Dr. Pacifica Sommers was our guest speaker on Tuesday February 5th! She spoke about her research on cryoconite holes–microenvironments that contain tons of microbial diversity in Antarctica. She also shared more about her career path, what life in the field is like, and answered student questions! She skyped with us from Antarctica, with McMurdo Station in the background on a sunny summer day! It was AWESOME!
